1)  Kimberley Food Fare – Sunday 13 March

Coming to Kimberley on Sunday 13 March is the first ever Kimberley Food Festival, made possible through various funding sources.  Local Kimberley resident Sam Boneham has organised this, with the assistance of Matt Haslam of Kimberley Christmas Market.  This one day festival that is guaranteed to be a great day out for the while family!

Starting at 11am visitors will be able to sample the best local food stalls and street food vendors in locations around the Town centre as well as visiting the local businesses for unique and delicious food offerings. Live music performances will be on throughout the day alongside fun filled activities for children including clay modelling activities and a magic show!

This is a fabulous community event showcasing the brilliant plethora of food and drink establishments in Kimberley and most importantly is an opportunity for our communities to come together and support local!

Keep up to date with latest news and reveals via https://www.facebook.com/kimberleyfoodfest/

More details available from Sam Boneham: samuel.boneham101@gmail.com

2)  Tuesday 1 March, Toll Bar Square – 9am – 2pm new market coming to Kimberley

For more information please contact:
Clair Storey

Markets Officer

3)  Support for unpaid carers in Nottinghamshire

I have received some information which maybe of particular interest if you, or anyone you know is an unpaid carer providing care and support to a family member or
loved one in Nottinghamshire.  The full details are provided here: Carers Space Session 2 March 2022

4) Garden waste subscriptions for the new financial year starting April 2022

Residents in Broxtowe are now able to renew their garden waste subscription for the 2022/23 season. This will run from Monday 4 April through to 2 April 2023. Letters detailing the fee for the year, along with information on how to pay should be with you by now with an example copy shown here: Garden Waste Letter 2022 (002)
The charge for the upcoming season is as follows; £37 for one bin and £23 for each additional bin. Bin stickers identifying subscribers will be sent to residents after payment and those paying before the 18 March will receive their stickers towards the end of March as these will be sent out as a batch from the printers. Subscriptions made after that date may take up to 10 days to process and residents may not receive their stickers until after the new season has begun. The quickest and easiest way for householders to subscribe is online and details on how to sign up to the service are provided on the back of the letter.

To make you aware, those residents currently subscribing to the 2021/22 season will see their garden waste collections return to fortnightly in March.

If you have any queries regarding the service please contact Emma Georgiou, Waste and Climate Change Manager: Emma.Georgiou@broxtowe.gov.uk

5)  Rent a space from Decathlon store in Giltbrook

They want this space to be available and accessible to rent out for a variation of activities such as; fitness, dance or yoga classes.  They want to make this as accommodating as possible for a wide variety of people and activities, we would love your input on how best to achieve this.
If you have any ideas, or interest you would like to express in using this space please contact Decathlon on the email address below
thomas.hodson@decathlon.com
If you are on Facebook – the details are also at:

6)  Drains on Hardy Street, Kimberley

I continue to receive plenty of complaints about this, having first reported the problems in this vicinity last year.

I’ve made further representations about this matter, after receiving more complaints from local residents this week.  When I have more information I will let you know.

7) Former brewery site, Hardy Street

I had my latest walk around the site this week with some local residents, following numerous ongoing problems with unfinished work, health and safety issues, protruding wires and environmental concerns.  To try and move matters forward again I am looking to take the Director of Planning At Broxtowe around the site next month for a detailed inspection.  I am hoping that resulting from this we will be able to get some realistic and proper timescales in place to rectify some of the key concerns.  When I have more detailed information I will let you know.  Any questions in the meantime please get in touch.

8) Precinct Parking, Kimberley

Readers of the this newsletter for a while will no doubt be well aware of the problems with parking fines that at one stage this month appeared never ending!  I nearly lost count with how many complaints have been submitted to the previous company in question – Smart Parking – not only by me I should add, but also Sam Boneham (Kimberley Town Council).

Eurocarparks have now taken over the car park management system, with new signage in place.

Both Sam & I appear to have been successful with the vast majority of complaints we have submitted on behalf of local residents regarding Smart Parking.

Attention has now turned to ongoing issues – like, why have bollards been inserted which appear to benefit very few residents using the car park?  The key matter of trying to get a separate access for vehicles coming out of the car park is something both Sam and I are trying to find a way forward on.  When there is more information we will let you know.

Any questions in the meantime please get in touch.
